The 5-day commute is dead

As more and more people are turning their living rooms into meeting rooms, there is a significant need for a professional working setup. This setup must not only provide those working from home with office essentials such as a monitor, keyboard, and mouse, but it should also be easily taken down and stored out of sight.

Sketches of different concepts and iterations

A mobile and professional setup for the flexible home office.

The Office Out of Office is made up of three different elements, the first is the stool made of birchwood. Standing on hidden wheels, it’s an easy-to-move and versatile product that suits any modern home. Inside, you will find a storage drawer, made to fit laptops up to 16 inches, and store all other office tools and equipment in the flexible “waves”. Last is the monitor folio, which uses high-quality polyester panels to make the product easy to move whilst maintaining low weight and stability. You will find a 17” monitor from espresso displays, an Apple Magic Keyboard, and a Surface Arc mouse by Microsoft. Combined, the Office Out of Office is the perfect companion for those working from home.

Circular Bicycle Lights

02/05

2023

Design project for the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences made in collaboration with Swapfiets.

Data Analysis
3D Models
Technical Drawings

Fixing the weakest link in the chain

Since Swapfiets owns the bikes, it is responsible for the repairs. More repairs equal more costs. After carefully analyzing the data collected by Swapfiets, we concluded that the lights break down most often on their bikes. So, our challenge was to re-design their lights, this time focusing on creating a circular bicycle light that would be easy to repair.

Brand a Cube
03/05

2022

University assignment to better understand brands, their products and strategies, and how to create in line with that brand.

Brand Analysis
Moodboards
Prototyping

Translation into the basic shapes

This assignment was meant to analyze and deeply understand a brand strategy and culture. From the insights in this analysis, a cube had to be built to express this exact brand. The brand I was assigned to was HAY Design, a Danish contemporary design brand that is sometimes compared to the IKEA of the upper middle class.

I analyzed their collection and brand. Below, you will find slides that show that process. I then formed a board showing the key characteristics of HAY design and used that to conceptualize my cube. It turned out to be a playful cube made of painted wood, resembling a Rubix cube. Only one part could move to create a cube with a minimalistic aesthetic or disrupt by turning one color inside out.

Pick the right materials, pick the materials right

Whether you are renovating your kitchen or developing a new product in your lineup, the materials you use speak for the product. They can make or break the user experience, not only through the visuals but also through the haptics and the way they wear and tear over time.

I have studied many material groups, and below is a selection of those works.

A picture says more than a thousand words

I was taught that I should be capable of conveying my ideas on the back of a beermat or a napkin—not in words, but in images. Sketching is one of the most important ways of communicating ideas, and I personally enjoy the process of it.
